If you contacted me prior to this posting about a photo nothing will change. For the rest of you, here is a contest. I want each of you to vote for the photo you like the most. You can look through the blog, or visit my Flikr HERE. Please either post here or email me your favorite HERE.
After two weeks (maybe three depending on number of votes), the top two will be posted again and pricing. So this means, pass my link around, get my name out there, because if I only have three votes total... whats the point? So if you work for a company where some may know me (cough Dani, Tasha, Nate, Beth cough), or a really amazing friend that wants to help support my work, I expect some work. For example reposting on your blog/facebook/twitter, sharing my blog with coworkers/friends, just give you a few ideas. :)
I think Quinton will like this a lot. I went through with a two different types of post editing, creating a soft and a harder image. Tell me what you think. :)
As you can tell from the next set of photos, there was quite a bit of walking done. In fact, I was sore when I woke up this morning. That is a bad sign. Well I had a great time with my photo-walking buddy and hopefully I will get the chance to see her work as well soon. We started at the Market, worked our way back up to the Westlake Center, then over to the Space Needle/Science Center, down to the waterfront and the piers and then back through the Market and up to Westlake Center again.
It took quite a bit of work to finally figure out which ones I was going to post here, there are others on my flikr account that did not quite make the cut, so head on over and check it out (My flikr). Well more waste of space here are the pictures.
I want to first start out that the artist you are hearing is Quinton himself. He did his first ever live performance this past Tuesday at the Q-Cafe up near Ballard. Sadly there were 26 performers, so he only had five minutes on stage! He did an amazing job, and more importantly BETTER keep it up.
I never do portraits, which should be and will be pretty obvious over my posts (unless I receive some killer reviews from people other than Quinton). I thought these turned out really well, and it may change in the distant future but, I am good with buildings, mountains and other STATIONARY objects. :)
After his single performance, we were not done listening yet. So we changed venues to the roof top of Quinton's apartment complex. Up here I had a great perspective of the city, and snapped a few quick ones.
First my heart goes out to each of the family members and friends of the slain police officers in Tacoma. If you have not heard, one I am surprised and two here is a YouTube video. What is most terrifying is realizing that this had happened literally blocks from my alma mater, and I can not tell you the amount of times I saw Lakewood Officers at Forza getting coffee. When I was there studying, visiting friends, etc there were always a at least one on site. Hopefully the point of interest individual ends up being this coward who pathetically shot officers with little remorse. I hope similar actions happen as they had with the individual from Halloween night, these are our cities and it is because of individuals like them that we can all feel as if we are losing a bit of our homes each week.
These next set of photos are from my first photo shoot with the Nikon D40 around Tacoma. This set is focused around the Hill Top just West of Pacific Avenue.
This was a complete adventure. With both vehicles rolling, and my being tall made this a tough shoot, especially since it was my first time. I had three vantage points, in my trunk, out the sunroof and out the passenger window. Sadly, but not so surprisingly all of my pictures from the trunk did not work out. Tough to get a guy that is over six feet to fit in one, let alone take pictures without bashing your head on the trunk lid. Here are my three favorite from that shoot.
Thanks to Kyle Nowadnick (on bike) and James Burnett (driving) for helping with this shoot.
Also before I run, you can tell I have included music, there will be a new song or new artist each week. I will also be hoping to keep it as local as possible. I guess as long as my favorites keep writing songs. This means you Quinton and Cody!
Like I said I will be updating this a lot during this first week. :) This update is a few random shots I have taken, including one style called tilt shift which is done through photoshop. This update will also include my all-time fave (and many others), my space needle picture, a picture of my nephew (I never take pictures of people, which has been pretty obvious so far) and an HDR image.
This is the tilt shift image, it makes the objects of the image seem miniature. Almost Mr. Rogerish if you will. :) Yes this is down the hill of Pacific Avenue, heading into Tacoma.
Since I have a stock pile of photos over the past year so there will be multiple updates this week. For example, this car show in University Place, WA last year.
Since it is fall, and ugly weather in the Seattle area. I have to show my respect to the beauty of the area and its colors. We really do have a fall, and not just rain! I promise!
It has been brought to my attention a couple of times that I should probably put some focus into my photography to get my name out there and start having fun with it. So if you like my work, tweet me, edit your fb status and starting checking out my blog!!
